The 2020 Ford F-250 and 2020 Nissan Titan XD are some top choices in the truck market. But, how do they stack up against each other? Which one is the better option? We’ve put some information together for a side by side comparison of these powerhouse trucks to help answer those questions.
Price
Straight out of the gate we notice the extreme price difference of the Titan XD versus the F-250. The Titan XD starts over $10,000 higher at $44,580 compared to the starting price of the F-250 which comes in at $34,035.
Power
The F-250 comes standard with a 6.2L Flex Fuel V8 engine that is paired with a TorqShift® G 6-speed transmission. This engine produces up to 385 horsepower and 430 lb. ft. torque, starting the F-250 lineup out strong! The Titan XD’s standard and only engine is a 5.6L V-8. It is a slightly more powerful engine then in previous years and produces up to 400 horsepower and 413 ft. lb. torque. The Titan’s engine is paired with a new 9-speed automatic transmission.
Unfortunately, the previously offered diesel engine was dropped for the 2020 lineup of the Titan XD, leaving only one engine across the board. On the other hand, the F-250 has two additional available engine options for those looking to upgrade their power even further.
The 7.3L 2V DEVCT NA PFI V8 and 6.7L Powerstroke® V8 Turbo Diesel engines provide two unprecedented powerhouse engine options for the F-250. The 7.3L V8 is paired with a TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission and can produce an impressive 430 horsepower and 475 lb. ft. torque which is the most powerful gas V8 engine in the heavy-duty pickup segment. The 6.7L V8 Turbo Diesel engine can produce an astonishing 475 horsepower and 1,050 lb. ft. torque and is paired with the TorqShift® 10-speed automatic transmission.
The Ford Super Duty® lineup has the only high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body in its class. This is a huge advantage over the Titan XD because the aluminum alloy is remarkably stronger yet substantially lighter than the previous Ford Super Duty’s steel body. The weight savings in the body is reinvested into the frame to add to its strength and durability.
Versatility
Both capable trucks have available off-road packages or trims that allow for elevated off-road use. The F-250 offers the Tremor Off-Road Package whereas the Titan offers an actual Pro-4X trim as its off-road option. The Following is a list of what the off-road packages and trims come equipped with.

The Titan Pro-4X Trim starts at over $47,000, which may be out of reach for the average pocketbook.
Along with available off-road capabilities, both trucks have many additional available features that bring the versatility of each truck up to new heights. The F-250 has an available tailgate step with Tailgate Assist™, whereas the Titan has a comparable available rear bumper step assist and bed assist grip. Both have available premium power heated mirrors, available Skid Plates, available Moonroof, and available Remote Start System. The Titan also comes standard with a Rear Sensing System whereas that option is an upgraded feature in the F-250.
The F-250 heats the competition up a bit by offering these available features not found in the Titan XD.

The towing capacity of the Titan XD also falls short in comparison to the F-250. Where the Titan XD has a max towing capacity of 10,990 lbs. and a max payload rating of 2,523 lbs., the F-250’s max towing capacity sits much higher at 15,000 lbs. and has a max payload rating of 4,323 lbs.
Infotainment
The Titan’s available 12-speaker sound system and available 9” display beat the F-250’s available 8” productivity screen and 10-speaker B&O Premium Audio Sound System, although it does come with the added bonus of a subwoofer.
Both trucks have available 4G Wi-Fi Hotspot capabilities, however the F-250’s available productivity screen user interface is much easier to navigate since it is designed with a smartphone-like touchscreen and pinch-to-zoom functionality.
The F-250 and Titan XD are both equipped with many standard and available interior powerpoints. The biggest advantage the F-250 provides in this sector is the available wireless charging capabilities which is not an option for the Titan XD.
Interior Comfort / Convenience
The Titan and F-250 have available heated and cooled leather driver and front passenger seats along with available Dural-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control. They both also have available Rain-Sensing Wipers, however the F-250 also has an available Windshield Wiper De-icer which is not available for the Titan.
Although both trucks have an available Lockable Under-Seat Storage Box, the F-250 also comes standard with a secondary glove box and available Vehicle Safe, whereas the Titan only comes with dashboard storage.
Safety
The Titan and F-250 share many standard safety features such as a tailgate mounted Rear View Camera, Electronic Stability Control System, Trailer Sway Control, and Post-Crash Emergency Communication System. The Titan also comes standard with Automatic High-Beams whereas that is an available feature for the F-250 not a standard one. The Titan also comes standard with a Blind Spot Monitoring System. The F-250 offers their BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Trailer Coverage as an upgraded feature, which brings in the additional trailer coverage that the Titan doesn’t offer. The MyKey® feature that comes standard on the F-250 is something that is not found in the Titan. This unique feature allows you to customize settings for each keyfob in order to better aid in teen driver use of the vehicle. It has the ability to limit max driver speed, limit the maximum entertainment volume, and also can be programmed to only allow sound system use after the seat belt has been connected.
Adaptive Cruise Control and Collision Warning with Brake Support, Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking and Forward Collision Warning, and Audible Lane Departure Warning, are all upgraded safety features available to add on both trucks.
Conclusion
When looking at either of these capable trucks individually, one could conclude that they are both wonderful choices. However, when compared side by side, it is hard to ignore the greater benefits that the F-250 provides while retaining an affordable price point. With more engine options, better off-road capabilities, impressive interior conveniences, and an increased amount of towing and payload capabilities, the F-250 is the clear winner in this race.
